On their way …
December 23, 2016
The Wise Men are on their way to Bethlehem…Will their wisdom touch some men and women during their long travel ?
Maybe they will talk together about Peace, show love, bring much needed food and presents ? Give protection ?
Looking at the bright sky above, they might see Stars of Hope for the coming year ?
May the Light enveloping them all bring a feeling of comfort and understanding.
And the war roar be replaced by the angels’ singing.
Sometimes I like to dream and imagine how different things could be. Unrealistic, I know but then at this particular time, I like to make a pause, think of others and wish everyone moments of peace, togetherness, love, health, understanding, joy.
WISHING YOU ALL A BLESSED CHRISTMAS, HERE AND THERE !
We shall find peace
We shall hear angels
We shall see the sky
Sparkling with diamonds (like stars).
Anton Chekhov

Wishing you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS, moments of joy and peace, togetherness, sharing the light and warmth of this special time of the year. Moments that I hope will last long after this day.
This is also a time when my parents are both very present around us. They both left days before and after Christmas. Here is the quilt I made in memory of my mother, gratitude and happy years together. Little pieces of materials that belonged to her or that she used a lot : pillow cases, towels, aprons, napkins, handkerchiefs, curtains, cushions, tablecloths. I felt good sewing it slowly, thinking of her and smiling.
A crib in town. There were many of them, nicely built and decorated along the “Path of the Cribs”. I like this one for the feeling of peace it conveys as well as togetherness, offering, sharing, realness.
These images are my gifts to you on this Christmas Day, dear visitors, friends who happen to stop here today.
“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach!”
Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

Less is also beautiful
December 19, 2014
Strolling along the Advent’s time, trying to slow down on the path to Christmas and making a pause near those ancient walls that are part of an old castle.
Why not take time to watch the sun through the branches and look more closely at some small wild flowers barely visible between the rough stones of an old wall ? Pinks and whites and rust emerge through the cracks.
Exotic trees and luxuriant plants growing quietly against a shaded brick wall. A secluded garden may reveal more wild beauty.
No flashing colors and bright lights of the Season here, no noisy and busy places, just a hint of a Light or a Star leading the way to Christmas ?
The ruin of an ancient door joyfully decorated by ivy leaves and red flowers, under the shelter of a shower of silver leaves.
Beauty also lies in the less visible, the shy and persistent grasses blushing under my curious and admirative look.
The old castle, deserted on a sunny afternoon, offering a moment of peace and lending its walls to plants that only need a bit of earth, sun and rain to come back to life and bloom.
On the way back to the city center, a narrow paved alley, a bridge between times and places, a contrast of shades and construction with the beautiful resilience of nature.

This time has come again.
A time for joy and togetherness, for traditions and preparations, for gifts and decorations.
A time with happiness, with fear of loneliness, of memories and changes.
A time for songs, poems, prayers, candles and the scent of oranges and spices.
A time when a single brilliant Star lead the way to a crib and a new born Child.
A time when everyone everywhere should find its own Light, shining.
A warm and comforting feeling in one’s heart.
May one of those lights on our pine tree in the garden find the way to your heart and
Let you know you are thought of, thanked and wished the best only.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, JOYEUX NOEL, FELIZ NAVIDAD, GLAEDELIG JUL, HYVAA JOULUA !

A beautiful little book “Au nom de la mère” or “In the name of the mother”. Erri de Luca tells about what is probably the most well-known story in humanity. The Italian author focuses on Miriàm, a young Jewish girl engaged to Iosef. Under his hand, the story of the Nativity is seen in the Hebraic context and is a praise of all mothers, body and soul. A wonderful read particularly during Christmas time.
« Grace is the superhuman force to face the world on one’s own, without any effort, to defy it… It is a prophet’s talent. It is a gift and you received it. You are full of grace”.
Iosef to Miriàm, Mary, Marie

Christmas wishes
December 24, 2011
We are almost there, aren’t we ? Christmas Eve will be celebrated later tonight . Most cards have been sent, the Christmas tree is all lit up as I write and the menu for dinner is ready… in my head. Our village postman has been busy delivering mail and packages. Yesterday I was on his list, he brought me a large parcel sent from the United States.
My friend Fina, from South Texas, had carefully wrapped up this lovely Christmas decoration : a Mexican musician and his sweet señorita. They looked so colourful and different from our usual decorations that I could not help but sharing them with you. I delicately put the pretty decoration on a branch of a pine tree in the garden. The two of them did not seem to mind the change of temperatures…
Snow had fallen a few days ago and children spent hours in the field near our house building a snowman. A joyful party that was still there at dusk, surrounded by parents and friends, screaming and jumping around their artwork. Today snow has melt, the only remaining sign of the snowman is his red scarf and a carrot that is looked at with greedy eyes by Nino the beagle.
Most of these handmade cards are gone, sent to family and friends here and there. My box of African fabrics scraps is almost empty. It is a good feeling to imagine that maybe these cards will give as much pleasure as I felt sewing them. Bringing some thoughts, light and strong colours where and when they are needed.
This mosaic is also meant to bring you, my Friends, my best wishes for A Merry Christmas. A celebration of peace and togetherness, sharing time and affection, joy around the Christmas Tree.
Feliz Navidad, Joyeux Noel, Merry Christmas, Glaedelig Jul, Hyvaa Joulua, Sretan Bosic and more good wishes wherever you are.
Wishes for you

May you all receive the Christmas light in your heart.
A time for a pause and for sharing,
A time for celebrating and thinking of others, not able to do so.
A time for giving one’s time to prepare traditional meals that will bring everyone around the Christmas table.
Joyful decorations, Nativity scene, scented candles, cinnamon cookies, spiced tea, Christmas songs in church, a snowman in a garden and so much more. There is this special mood at home that makes you feel like prolonging this happy time of togetherness. And why not ?
Christmas is also the time to look at others and events with the heart. As Antoine de St-Exupéry wrote in his book “The Little Prince” :
“The essential is invisible to the eyes, one only sees well with the heart”.
Those were the words the fox said to the little prince as they were going to part. It was the fox secret that he confided to him. And to many readers across the globe since the book was published. “The Little Prince” is a wonderful tale for all ages, a story to read to children, a story for all times. And the fox secret is good to remember well beyond Christmas.
Here is a gift for you, my friendship stars’ quilt. I hope they will shine in your Christmas night and long afterwards. Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas!
